We have an opening for an Accounting Supervisor at our Keokuk, Iowa
manufacturing location.
This position will supervise and participate in the timely, accurate and
cost-effective preparation of statistical and financial reports to
provide a sound basis for management decisions. Basic technical or
specialized skills utilized in involved practices/procedures and/or
scientific theory and principles. Limited experience, works with high
level of specific activity with well defined objectives.
This position will report directly to the Plant Controller at the plant
location. Reporting to the Superivsor Accounting
are shipping and inventory coordinators.
The Accounting Supervisor is accountable for the work performance
of the direct staff members. Will be responsible to
direct and ensure that employees are aware of their duties; be able to
communicate effectively in an effort to maintain high morale, motivation
and productivity.
This position supervises the general accounting function, payroll, data
processing, and insurance procedures; prepares the weekly shipping,
product inventory, and casting schedules for the plant, calculates the
fixed assets and finished product inventories along with numerous
statistical reports; develops manufacturing cost studies; researches
projects as requested.
Major interactions include the Plant Controller, railroads for
the availability of cars, railroad switching, demurrage; scrap brokers
and vendors regarding materials purchased, delivery dates; regular basis
advising inventory rates, payroll, various reports, etc. The
effectiveness of this position is measured by the timely, accurate and
cost effective preparation of statistical and financial reports.
Supervise the timely, accurate and cost-effective preparation of
statistical and financial reports to provide a sound basis for
management decisions. Coordinate and control the accounting
functions to comply with generally accepted accounting practices and
Company policies. Assure that financial transactions are conducted
in a manner to provide maximum benefit for the Company. Select, develop
and motivate a competent staff to assure attainment of department, plant
and Company objectives. May assume duties of Plant Controller in his/her
absence. Supervise the scheduling, shipping and billing of products
according to instructions from the Marketing Department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
4 year degree in Accounting is
required. 3 years minimum experience in accounting, along
with supervisor experience. An MBA and/or CPA would be a
plus.
