Warranty Modification and Retrofit Technician I, II, or III | Clipper Wind Power | Cedar Rapids, IA
The person in this position is responsible for Warranty repairs or
modifications to existing Clipper Windpower turbines. They may also at
times assist with Installation and Commissioning as well as the
Operations and Maintenance of wind turbine generators at various Clipper
projects. They will trouble shoot advanced mechanical and electrical
problems on variable pitch and converter related issues on variable
speed turbines. Performs all mechanical and electrical component testing
and ultimately repairs as needed. Extensive travel will be required in
order to facilitate the job requirements related to this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
- Physically performs operation, maintenance and repair activities on
wind turbine generators.
- Trouble shoots complicated anomalies within wind turbine generator
systems.
- Conducts training lessons as needed to enhance other employees
technical knowledge
- Able to assist training department with the training and orientation
of new employees from time to time.
- Acts as a role model within a field environment to ensure all
procedures are followed as required.
- Able to work up to 70 hours per week if needed to meet project and
maintenance schedules.
- Performs weekend/holiday operations and repair of wind turbine
generators as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform the job successfully, the
individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skill, and/or ability required.
- Direct Current Electricity, Alternating Current Electricity Working,
Electronics and Around 1500 volts or less.
- Ability to consistently climb wind turbine towers up to 300' in
height.
- Able to travel to assist with workload on other projects.
- Able to work out doors under extreme weather conditions.
- Familiarity with Voltage Testers, Multimeters, Amp Clamps,
Oscilloscopes, Meghommeters, Infrared Testers, Voltage Test Procedures,
Lock Out Tag Out, Electric Static Discharge (ESD), Hydraulics,
Accumulator Charging, Crane Hand Signals, Soldering, Fasteners,
Torquing, Hytorques, Fiber Optics, First Aid, Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR), and Tower Rescue.
- Overtime is involved to meet project deadlines as needed.
- Must have clean DMV record and ability to operate service trucks as
required for site.
- Ability to train other employees in operations, maintenance &
repair procedures.
- Must be able to self manage time and prioritize tasks on a daily
basis.
