Position Purpose: This position will provide technical assistance to
Operations to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime of formulation
and packaging facilities. The typical demands are of a chemical
engineering nature and involve selection of processing equipment,
heating & cooling requirements, materials of construction, chemical
reaction kinetics, and numerous other processing and packaging issues.
The position will also provide engineering support to the manufacturing
division of Winfield Solutions, LLC. Engineering support involves
identifying and designing improvements to existing processes as well as
new product manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Capital Management:
- Supports the development and implementation of the Manufacturing
Division's Capital Budget.
- Investigates special projects/capital improvements, research costs and
options, makes recommendations, and purchase necessary equipment.
- Procures process equipment - evaluates new and used process and
packaging equipment, makes recommendations for equipment selection and
negotiates low price point.
- Manage and coordinate the preparation of capital requests (AFE -
Authority for Expenditure).
Project Management:
- Analyze each project to determine the best, most cost effective labor
force to bring the project to a close in a timely, economical manor.
- Oversees all purchases, develops and maintains relationships of
integrity with vendors and contractors.
- Develops construction plans.
- Directs the activities of multiple contractors.
- Ensures smooth transitions from project stage to operational stage.
Safety & Environmental Engineering:
- Assist or lead PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) and MOC (Management of
Change) at the Hampton facility.
- Analyzes current operations and production forecasts to determine
capacity requirements of environmental abatement equipment.
- Procures environmental abatement equipment - evaluates equipment, makes
recommendations for equipment selection and negotiates low price point.
- Oversees installation and compliance testing of all environmental
abatement equipment.
Maintenance Support:
- Provides guidance and technical advice on maintenance issues at all
facilities.
- Evaluate and determine equipment and machinery replacement schedule.
- Supports division maintenance in establishing priorities.
Cost Savings:
Works with Management, MRO Purchasing, Maintenance and all Plant
Personnel to develop new cost savings ideas in all facets of plant and
administrative operations.
Required (Basic) Experience & Education:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering)
required with 3 years' experience in industrial chemical process
engineering and project development. Environmental abatement/compliance
experience including familiarity with RCRA, EPA, OSHA, IDNR, CWA, CAA
and FIFRA; CHMM certification preferred.
Required Competencies & Other Skills:
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), analytical
skills for process design and troubleshooting, working knowledge of
Process Safety Management. Strong computer skills, including MS Office
and CAD applications, plus working knowledge of automated process
control programming and instrumentation. Ability to manage projects and
people with competing priorities.
