The Air Conditioning Systems and Services business of Ingersoll Rand
provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems that enhance
the quality and comfort of the air in homes and buildings around the
world. Its offerings, under the Trane and American Standard Heating
& Air Conditioning brands, include energy efficient systems, service
and parts support and advanced building controls.
SUMMARY
This position works directly with Customers, Acct Mgr, Project Mgrs,
Sub-contractors, & Material Suppliers to ensure timely completion of
assigned projects & customer satisfaction. Responsible for
coordinating selection, pricing, equipment, controls and services for
each project. Must be able to provide estimating support to all revenue
streams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies potential opportunities with existing & new customers.
- Collects project data & compares to the office's capabilities.
- Performs building surveys of HVAC Equipment/controls & operational
costs & validates preliminary information with customer. Performs
construction plan review.
- Develops, evaluates, & discusses possible solutions with Acct Mgr,
Project Mgr, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.
- Coordinates selection, pricing, & integrates equipment, controls,
& services for each project.
- Helps Acct Mgr determine proposal price & selling strategy.
- Helps Acct Mgr develop project fulfillment schedule with project team.
- Prepares & reviews contract terms & conditions.
- Responsible for creating detailed cost estimates consisting of
controls, Service Agreement, materials, Mechanical, Electrical, &
other sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, & other
construction-related activities to assist Acct Mgrs in bidding on or
determining price of project.
- Responsible for the take-off & pricing of controls materials,
services and/or equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size,
configuration, voltage, options, etc.
- Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or
risk items.
- Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors.
- Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors by preparing preliminary
proposal.
- Prepares sub-contractor request for quotation's (RFQ) including: scope
statements; plans & milestone dates; specs; bonding requirements;
& billing schedule of values.
- Receives & qualifies subcontractor proposals; supervises work of
project assigned staff.
- Communicates with customers & their representatives, including
building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors,
& field support staff.
- Clarifies, reconciles, & adjusts information gaps & scope
deviations with operations group.
- Flexibility to work/entertain outside normal work hours/weekends, as
required.
- Some travel with occasional overnight stays may be required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering
technology or business management with three (3-5) years experience in
estimating, engineering or construction management; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of all facets
of : construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and
knowledge with the operation of HVAC systems, electrical systems and
temperature controls. Knowledge reading and understanding blueprints and
construction plans and specifications. Experience with computer
estimating and word processing software programs.
